Sydney GT Festival Draws Record Crowd

Sydney Motorsport Park came alive for the LIQUI MOLY GT Festival Sydney, with a record crowd and a packed weekend of racing marking another major weekend for the 2026 Shannons SpeedSeries.

Across three days, 20,173 spectators attended the event, setting a new attendance record for the SpeedSeries and becoming the first round in the series' history to welcome more than 20,000 fans.

More than 100 cars took to the circuit across GT World Challenge Australia, Monochrome GT4 Australia, Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge Australia, Motorcraft Mustang Cup Australia, Ferrari Challenge Australasia and Radical Cup Australia.

On track, the weekend produced plenty of memorable moments.

Oscar Targett and Shane Smollen broke through for a milestone GT World Challenge Australia victory on Saturday, before reigning champions Broc Feeney and Brad Schumacher responded with victory on Sunday.

There was plenty happening across the support categories too, with Tom Hayman and Jett Murray taking Sunday honours in GT4, while Josh Anderson returned to the top step in Mustang Cup Australia after Oli Wickham claimed Saturday's opening race.

Porsche Sprint Challenge provided one of Sunday's biggest twists when race leader Kobi Williams suffered a tyre failure on the final lap, opening the door for Xavier Avramides to take the win.

The weekend also brought the Ferrari Challenge Australasia season to a close, with Enzo Cheng securing the Trofeo Pirelli title on countback and David Trewern taking the Coppa Shell championship.

With record crowds in the grandstands and strong fields across six categories, Sydney delivered another showcase of the depth of Australian circuit racing.

The Shannons SpeedSeries now heads towards its 2026 season finale at Sandown Raceway from 30 October–1 November, where the remaining championship battles will be decided.
